Materials you'll need:
A microphone, a transistor (ask your friends to help with the
emitter, base and collector terminals. Alternatively, look up
the web), a radio frequency coil (choke, RFC), a variable
capacitor (365 or 500 pF; pF = pico farad), 2 resistors, 3
condensers , an aerial (antenna), a soldering iron, solder
wire, a stripboard (also known as veroboard) and a power
supply (9V).
How it works: The Tank
oscillator produces the carrier frequency (freq = 1/{2*pi*sqrt.[LC]};
L= inductance of the coil in Henry, C = capacitance in Farad,
as dictated by the variable
capacitor). To see an animation of how a 'tank circuit'
works visit this page.
The amplitude of the freq. of the carrier wave is modulated by
the input from the microphone. As we speak on to the
microphone, the diaphragm vibrates. This makes a coil of
copper, wound around a powerful magnet, vibrate too, making
induced current in the coil, the magnitude and frequency of
which depends on the loudness and frequency of the
speech/audio signal. The mike is connected to the base of the
transistor via a capacitor. This capacitor allows AC
(alternating currents) to pass, but blocks any DC component.
The second feature thus, does not let the microphone change
the bias voltage conditions of the transistor. The
biasing of the NPN type transistor is done by one or
two fixed resistor networks (one in this case).
When some audio signal is present, collector current will
increase. Since it is the tank circuit at the collector load,
the amplitude of the 'carrier frequency' will thus be
modified. Amplitude Modulation has been achieved! You will
notice that one end of the output capacitor has been connected
to the antenna, while the other end is connected to the ground
(earth, ground of your wall power outlet, or safer still the
traditional lead water pipe). This arrangement makes the
capacitor plates look like, as if, they are placed far apart;
earth and sky! This causes dissipation of the energy in the
form of electromagnetic waves.
Frequency Modulation (FM) transmission is better, since the
static (electrical noise from man made appliances,
lightnings etc) is almost absent and stereo signal can be
transmitted, to name a few.

Alternatif FM Verici Devreleri
Basit FM Verici
Devreyi gerçekleştirmek oldukça kolay. önemli olan parça
bobin.Bobini 4 mm çapta 7 tur sarmanız gerekiyor. Bobin sarma

verilir.
RC osilatörler, 20 Hz - 20KHz arasındaki ses frekans sahasında
geniş uygulama alanına sahiptir.

We know at this point that any circuit comprised of
inductance (L) and capacitance (C) is capable of resonating:
attaining large values of AC voltage and current if “excited”
at the proper frequency. The so-called tank circuit is
the simplest example of this:

Figure

useful application it would actually need to include more
components. For example, if it was a radio tuner, it would
need to be connected to an antenna and an amplifier.
Nevertheless, all the essential physics is there.
In 1887, a German physicist named Heinrich Hertz
successfully demonstrated the existence of electromagnetic
waves. Examine the following schematic of the apparatus he
used to do this, and explain what significance Hertz’s
discovery has to do with your study of electronics:
neden olur.
f = 1 / (2π√L.C) formülü ile
bulunabilir.
Elektronik devreler her frekansta aynı verim ile
çalışamazlar.
Osilasyon
Nedir?
elektrik sinyallerine “osilasyon” denir. Osilasyon, elektronik
sinyal her defasında kendini yenilemiş olur.
Genelde bir osilatör, kendi giriş sinyalini kendi sağlayan
bir yükselteç devresidir. Osilatörler kendi kendine sinyal
üretebilen cihazlardır. Osilatörler bir kez harekete
geçirildikten sonra bir AC çıkış sinyali üretir. Bu AC
sinyalinin küçük bir bölümü girişe geri beslenip orada
yükseltilir. Giriş sinyali yükseltilerek çıkışa gelir ve aynı
süreç tekrar eder, meydana gelen sürece tekrar üretimli süreç
denir.
osilasyonların (titreşim salınım) devam edebilmesi için;
Yükseltme
Pozitif Geri Besleme
enerji depolarken, indüktör manyetik alanda enerji depolar.
Kondansatör şarj ettikten sonra kondansatöre seri olacak
biçimde devreyi tamamlayan bir indüktör eklendiğinde,
kondansatör enerjisini indüktöre aktarmaya başlar ve indüktör
üzerinde bir manyetik alan meydana gelir. Kondansatörün
enerjisinin hepsi bittiği zaman indüktör, devreden akan akımın
devam etmesini sağlar ve kondansatörün diğer tabakasını şarj
eder.
Osilatördeki geri besleme, frekans tespit edici devredeki
Simple Transmitters
You can get an
idea for how a radio transmitter works by starting with a
battery and a piece of wire. In How Electromagnets Work, you
can see that a battery sends electricity (a stream of
electrons) through a wire if you connect the wire between the
two terminals of the battery. The moving electrons create a
magnetic field surrounding the wire, and that field is strong
enough to affect a compass.
Let's say that you take another
wire and place it parallel to the battery's wire but several
inches (5 cm) away from it. If you connect a very sensitive
voltmeter to the wire, then the following will happen: Every
time you connect or disconnect the first wire from the
battery, you will sense a very small voltage and current in
the second wire; any changing magnetic field can induce an
electric field in a conductor -- this is the basic principle
behind any electrical generator. So:
- The battery creates electron flow in the
first wire.
- The moving electrons create a magnetic
field around the wire.
- The magnetic field stretches out to the
second wire.
- Electrons begin to flow in the second
wire whenever the magnetic field in the first wire changes.
One important thing to notice
is that electrons flow in the second wire only when you
connect or disconnect the battery. A magnetic field does not
cause electrons to flow in a wire unless the magnetic field is
changing. Connecting and disconnecting the
battery changes the magnetic field (connecting the battery to
the wire creates the magnetic field, while disconnecting
collapses the field), so electrons flow in the second wire at
those two moments.
Radyo
Dalgaları Nasıl Oluşur?
Basit bir radyo dalga jeneratörü (üreteci)
Alıcı antene gelen radyo vericisi dalgaları..! Bu
dalgalar antenin belirli bir rezonans frekansında titreşmesini
sağlar.. yani alıcı antendeki serbest elektronlar
ivmeli bir hareket zorlanır... bunun sonucunda zayıf bir
em indükleme gerilimi/akımı (sinyali) oluşur. Bu indükleme
akımı alıcıda güçlendirilip işlenerek ses ve
görüntüye dönüştürülür. Aynı şekilde verici antendeki
serbest elektronlarda ivmeli bir hareketle gerekli olan
elektromanyetik yayın sinyallerini oluştururlar. Vericilerde
temelde bir osilatör dalga üretecidir.

Since at this frequency the antenna is a half wavelength (λ/2)
long, a sinusoidal wave of voltage or current takes exactly
one cycle to make the round trip from one end of the antenna
to the other and back, and the reflected waves reinforce each
other. The antenna acts like an electronic resonater. Waves of
current and voltage reflecting back and forth between the ends
of the rods interfere to form standing waves. The waves are
shown graphically by bars of
color (red for voltage V
and blue for current I)
whose width at each point is proportional to the amplitude of
the wave at that point. There are voltage antinodes (maxima)
and current nodes (zero points) at each end, while there is a
voltage node and current antinode at the drive point in the
center. The large oscillating voltages and currents on the
antenna at resonance causes it to radiate maximum radio wave
power.

The diagram below shows an antenna emitting an electromagnetic
wave.
There are not many AM transmitters that
are easier to build than this one because the inductor is
not tapped and has a single winding. There is no need to
wind the inductor as it is a readily available RF choke (eg,
Jaycar Cat LF-1536). To make the circuit as small as
possible, the conventional tuning capacitor has been
dispensed with and fixed 220pF capacitors used instead. To
tune it to a particular frequency, reduce one or both of the
220pF capacitors to raise the frequency or add capacitance
in parallel to lower the frequency. Q1 is biased with a 1MO
resistor to give a high input impedance and this allows the
use of a crystal ear piece as a low cost microphone.

The Simplest FM Transmitter Ever Made
This is the most simple and cheap FM transmitter you can
ever find. This circuit is really cool. This runs at very
low voltage, by a CR2025 3V battery, current consumption is
also low.And the total size of this FM transmitter
(including battery, excluding antenna) is less than that of
a matchbox. The circuit has a central RF oscillator NPN
transistor BF494 (substitute: BF199). A coil takes care of
the output frequency. It consists of 36SWG wire 2.5 turns
only in 5mm diameter ferrite rod. Keep the circuit as small
as possible. Try to use no wires in the main functional area
(transistor and coil). The input from the audio output of
computer / PMP / mobile is given to the biased base of the
transistor. The transistor gives a RF humming accordingly to
the audio input, and the FM wave is spread by the external
antenna. By using a standard TV antenna, the range of this
transmitter can go up to 1KM radius, using small (15-20cm)
Ariel, it can work up to around 50M range. This circuit is
most suitable for miniature FM transmitter for use in
computer, mobile etc to send music to home theater system
without wires, and in homemade wireless walky-talkies.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basic FM Transmitter
This basic RF oscillator circuit is easy to build and the
components are not critical. Most of them can be found in
your junk parts box. The circuit operated with 9V DC power
supply. The L1 antenna coil can be made by close winding 8
to 10 turns of 22 gauge insulted magnetic wire around 1/4
inch form such as a pencil. You can experiment with the size
of the coil and the number of turns to see how it affects
the frequency and signal output of the oscillator. You
should be able to pick up its signal with standard FM radio
receiver. Signal In to any audio player through 0.1uF
capacitor.

FM BUG Circuit
Corporate espionage is reaching new heights
in sophistication. The latest information to be released shows
the depths firms will go to pry into a rival firm's
operations.
By using the latest in electronic bugging, they have stolen
information, secrets and even formulas known only to the
inventors themselves.
Take the example of one firm:Leaks from Top Management level
remained a mystery until, one day, a bug was discovered inside
the Managing Director's office.Sitting prominently on his desk
was a gift box of imported cigars!Cleverly concealed in the
lower part of the box was a miniature FM transmitter . . all a
gift from a phony sales rep. This is just one of the many
bugging devices available on the eaves-dropping market. The
range includes pen and pencil holders, trophies, framed
pictures and office furniture with false bottom drawers.
These products are readily sold to fledgling companies, eager
to nestle into big brother's market.
And for a while these bugging devices worked. Few firms knew
of their existence, and even less on how to sniff them out.
But that has all changed now. If a corporation suspects a leak
at any level, the first thing they order is an investigation
into security. Not only personnel, but information and
electronic security.
Debugging has grown into big business. Most large security
organisations have a section concentrating on electronic
surveillance including bugging and debugging.
They use scanners to detect hidden devices and can locate
absolutely anything, anywhere, and on any frequency.
It was only after the firm above had commissioned a scan of
the entire floor, that the cigar box was discovered. Its
innocence had deceived everyone. And cost them a small
fortune!
Bugging of this kind is completely illegal and we don't
subscribe to this type of application at all.
But the uses for our SUPER-SNOOP FM WIRELESS MICROPHONE can be
harmless, helpful and a lot of fun.
Our unit is both compact and very sensitive and can be used to
pick up even the faintest of conversations or noises and
transmit them 20 or so metres to any FM receiver.
When you build the FM BUG you will see why we consider the
design to be very clever. We have used only low priced
components and they are all easy to obtain.
No air trimmer capacitor is required as the coil is squeezed
slightly to obtain the desired frequency. This has allowed us
to fit the bug into a tooth-brush case so that it can be
carried around or placed on a shelf.
If it is set between two books it will be hidden from view or
as a supervision accessory it can be placed on a small child,
etc. The transmitted signal will over-ride the background
noise and the output will be clean. If the child wanders
beyond the range of the transmitter, the background noise will
come up and signal that the tot is out of range.
As an added bonus, you can listen to the chatterings and
squabbles as the children amuse themselves in the back yard.
It is also great for picking up the first signs of a child
awakening from his afternoon sleep or it can be used as an
indicator from a bed-ridden patient.
The great advantage of the bug is the absence of wires. And
since it draws only about 5-10 milliamps, the pair of AAA
cells will last for many months.
The success of this FM BUG is the use of TWO transistors in
the circuit. To create a good design, like this, each
transistor should be required to perform only one task. In any
type of transmitter, there is a minimum of two tasks.
One is to amplify the signal from the microphone and the other
is to provide a high frequency oscillator.
The amplified microphone signal is injected into the
oscillator to modify its frequency and thus produce a
FREQUENCY MODULATED oscillator. If an aerial is connected to
the output of the oscillator, some of the energy will be
radiated into the atmosphere.
To increase the output of our design, an RF amplifier would be
needed but this gets into legal technicalities with maximum
transmitting power.
It may be of Interest to know that a record distance of 310
miles was achieved with a 350 micro-watt transmitter in the
USA, some 15 years ago. This equates to an astounding ONE
MILLION miles per watt!
In simple terms, an RF amplifier becomes a LINEAR amplifier.
We have opted for sensitivity and the first transistor is
employed as a pre-amplifier. This will enable you to pick up
very low-level sounds and transmit them about 20 to 50 metres.
MAKING THE OSCILLATOR COIL
The only critical component in the FM BUG is the oscillator
coil. When I say critical, I am referring to its effect on the
frequency. Its critical nature only means it must not be
touched when the transmitter is in operation as this will
detune the circuit completely.
It is the only component which needs to be adjusted or aligned
and we will cover its winding and formation in detail.
The oscillator coil is made out of tinned copper wire and does
not need any insulation. This is not normal practice but since
the coil is small and rigid, the turns are unable to touch
each other and short-out.
The coil is made by winding the tinned copper wire over a
medium-size Philips screw-driver. The gauge of wire, the
diameter of the coil and the spacing between turns is not
extremely important and it will be adjusted in the alignment
stage. However when the project is fully aligned, it must not
be touched at all.
Don't be over-worried at this stage. Just follow the size and
shape as shown in the diagram and everything will come out
right in the end.
THE DETAILS:
The coil has 5 turns and is wound on a 3.5mm shaft. To be more
specific, it has 5 loops of wire at the top and each end
terminates at the PC board. The coil must be wound in a
clock-wise direction to fit onto the board and if you make a
mistake, rewind the coil in the opposite direction.
CONSTRUCTION
Construction is quite straight-forward as everything is
mounted on the printed circuit board. The only point to watch
is the height of some of the components. The electrolytic must
be folded over so that the board will fit into the case.
Positioning of the parts is not as critical as you think as
the final frequency is adjusted by squeezing the coil together
or stretching it apart.
However it is important to keep the component leads as short
as possible and the soldering neat due to the high frequencies
involved. The components must be soldered firmly to the board
so that they do not move when the transmitter is being
carried.
Even the poorest of soldering will work but who wants to see
poor soldering on a project?
The soldering may not affect the resulting frequency but poor
layout of the components certainly will.
All the resistors must be pressed firmly against the PC board
before soldering and the two transistors must be pushed so
that they are as closes as possible to the board.
Some BC 547 transistors will not work in the circuit. Maybe
the frequency is too high. SGS BC 547 transistors did not work
at all. The other two types: f BC 547 and Philips BC 547
worked perfectly.
All the small-value capacitors are ceramic as they are not
critical in value and do not need to be high stability. But
you must be careful when identifying them. It would be a very
simple mistake to buy a 56p instead of 5p6 because there is no
difference in the size. 22n may be identified with 223 or 22n
or .022. A capacitor marked 22k will be a 22p cap and will not
be suitable. The 1n capacitor may be marked 1n or .001 or 102.
These are all the same value. The value 101 or 103 is NOT 1n
so be careful, the caps may be about the same size. The rule
is: don't use a capacitor unless its markings are clear and
you are sure of the value.
The complete FM BUG
The switch is mounted on the PC board with
its three terminals fitted into the large holes.
The final items to add to the board are the two AAA cells.
These come with the kit and we have chosen them for
slenderness so that they can be fitted side-by-side.
It is very difficult to solder to the zinc case but if you
roughen the surface with a file and use a large, HOT,
soldering iron, the job can be done very quickly. Use a piece
of tinned copper wire to join the positive of one to the
negative of the other. At the other end, solder longer lengths
of wire so that they can be connected directly to the PC
board. Make sure the positive terminal connects to the plus on
the PC board.
Top and bottom of the FM BUG PC board
AAA cells are also obtainable at
photographic shops. The only alternative is an 'N' cell which
is nearly as thin as an AAA cell but only half the length.
The terminal marked A on the board is the antenna output. For
a frequency of 90MHz, the antenna should be 165cm long. This
is classified as a half-wave antenna and provides one of the
most effective radiators. If you find the antenna gets in the
way you can opt for a quarter-wave antenna and this will be
83cm long. If you only require to transmit 10 to 20 metres the
antenna can be as short as 42cm or even as low as 5 or 10 cm.
The most suitable length will depend on the sensitivity of the
FM radio used to pick up the signal and the obstructions
between the transmitter and receiver. It will be a good
experiment for you to 'cut' your own antenna and determine
which is the most suitable for your application.
HOW THE CIRCUIT WORKS
The circuit consists of two separate stages. The first is an
audio pre-amplifier and the second is a 90MHz oscillator.
The first stage is very simple to explain. It is a
self-biasing common-emitter amplifier capable of amplifying
minute signals picked up by the electret microphone. It
delivers these to the oscillator stage. The amplification of
the first stage is about 70 and it only operates at audio
frequencies. The 22n capacitor isolates the microphone from
the base voltage of the transistor and allows only AC signals
to pass through. The transistor is automatically biased via
the 1M resistor which is fed from the voltage appearing at the
collector. This is a simple yet very effective circuit. The
output from the transistor passes through a 2.2u electrolytic.
This value is not critical as its sole purpose is to couple
the two stages.
The 47k, 1n, 470R and 22n components are not critical either.
So, what are the critical components in this circuit?
The critical components are the coil and 47p capacitor. These
determine the frequency at which the bug will transmit. In
addition, the effective capacitance of the transistor plays a
deciding factor in the resulting frequency.
This stage is basically a free-running 90MHz oscillator in
which the feedback path is the 5p6 capacitor.
When the circuit is turned on, a pulse of electricity passes
through the collector-emitter circuit and this also includes
the parallel tuned circuit made up of the oscillator coil and
the 47p capacitor. This pulse of electricity is due to the
transistor being turned on via the 47k resistor in the base
circuit.
When ever energy is injected into a tuned circuit, the energy
is firstly absorbed by the capacitor. The electricity will
then flow out to the coil where it is converted to magnetic
flux. The magnetic flux will cut the turns of wire in the coil
and produce current and voltage which will be passed to the
capacitor.
In theory, this current will flow back and forth indefinitely,
however in practice, there are a number of losses which will
cause the oscillations to die down fairly quickly.
If a feedback circuit is provided for the stage, the natural
RESONANT frequency of the coil/capacitor combination will be
maintained. The 5p6 provides this feedback path and keeps the
transistor oscillating.
The 5p6 feeds a small sample of the voltage appearing at the
collector, to the emitter and modifies the emitter voltage.
The transistor sees its base-to-emitter voltage altering in
harmony with the resonant frequency of the tuned circuit and
turns the collector on and off at the same frequency.
Thus there is a degree of stability in the oscillator
frequency.
The actual frequency of the stage is dependent upon the total
capacitance of the circuit and this includes all the other
components to a minor extent.
Once the basic frequency of 90MHz is set, the variations in
frequency are produced by the changes in effective capacitance
of the transistor. This occurs when its base voltage is
increased and reduced. The electret microphone picks up the
sound waves which are amplified by the first transistor and
the resulting frequency is passed to the base of Q2 via the
2.2u electrolytic.
This alters the gain of the transistor and changes its
internal capacitance. This junction capacitance modifies the
oscillator with a frequency equal to the sound entering the
microphone thus FREQUENCY MODULATING the circuit. A short
length of antenna wire is connected to the collector of the
oscillator via a coupling capacitor and some of the energy of
the circuit will be radiated to the surroundings.
Any FM receiver will pick up this energy and decode the audio
portion of the signal.
SETTING UP THE TRANSMITTER
When the FM BUG is complete, checked and ready for insertion
into its case, there is one slight adjustment which must be
made to align it to the correct frequency.
As we have said, the only critical component is the oscillator
coil. It is the only item which is adjustable.
Since we are working with a very high frequency, the proximity
of your hand or even a metal screw-driver will tend to de-tune
the oscillator appreciably.
For this reason you must use a plastic aligning stick to make
the adjustment. Any piece of plastic will do. A knitting
needle, pen barrel or plastic stirring stick can be used.
Place the bug about a metre from the FM radio and switch both
units on. Tune the radio to an unused portion of the band and
use the alignment stick to push the turns of the coil
together. Make sure none of the turns touch each other as this
will short out the operation of the oscillator.
All of a sudden you will hear the background noise diminish
and you may even get feed back. This amount of adjustment is
sufficient. Place the BUG in its case and tape up the two
halves.
The fine tuning between radio and transmitter is done on the
radio. Peak the reception and move the BUG further away. Peak
the fine tune again and move the BUG into another part of the
house and see how far it will transmit.
IF THE BUG FAILS
If the bug fails to operate, you have a problem. Simple
digital tests will not fix it nor will ordinary audio
procedures. The frequency at which the BUG operates is too
high.
You have to use a new method called comparison.
This involves the comparing of a unit which works, with the
faulty unit.
This means it is ideal for a group of constructors to build a
number of units and compare one against the other.
This will not be possible with individual constructors and
they will have to adapt this fault-finding section.
The first fact you have to establish is the correct operation
of the FM receiver.
If you have another BUG and it is capable of transmitting
through the radio you know the radio is tuned to the correct
frequency. Otherwise you will have to double-check the tuning
of the dial and make sure the radio is switched to the correct
setting.
The next stage is to determine if the BUG is functioning AT
ALL. The only voltage measurements you can make are across the
collector-emitter terminals of the first transistor (1 v to
1.5v) and across the collector-emitter terminals of the second
transistor (1.3v to 1.5v) These values won't tell you much,
except that the battery voltage is reaching the component.
Tune the radio to about 90MHz and lay the radio antenna very
close to the antenna of the BUG. Switch the BUG on and off via
the slide switch. You should hear a click in the radio if the
BUG is on a frequency NEAR 90MHz. Move the turns of the aerial
coil together or apart with a plastic stick as you switch the
unit ON and OFF.
If a click is heard but no feed-back, the oscillator will be
operating but not the pre-amp stage. This could be due to the
electret microphone being around the wrong way, the transistor
around the wrong way, a missing component or an open 2.2u
electro.
If the fault cannot be located, compare your unit with a
friend's. You may have made a solder bridge, connected the
batteries around the wrong way, made the coil too big or used
the wrong value capacitor for one of the values.
If all this fails, put the unit aside and start again.

Radio
Electronics:
Transmitters and Receivers
There are many natural sources of radio waves. But in the
later part of the 19th century, scientists figured out how to
electronically generate radio waves using electric currents.
Two
components are required for radio communication: a
transmitter and a receiver.
Radio transmitters
A radio transmitter consists of several elements that work
together to generate radio waves that contain useful
information such as audio,
video, or digital data.
-
Power supply: Provides the
necessary electrical power to operate the transmitter.
-
Oscillator: Creates alternating
current at the frequency on which the transmitter will
transmit. The oscillator usually generates a sine wave,
which is referred to as a carrier wave.
-
Modulator: Adds useful
information to the carrier wave. There are two main ways to
add this information. The first, called amplitude modulation
or AM, makes slight increases or decreases to the intensity
of the carrier wave. The second, called frequency modulation
or FM, makes slight increases or decreases the frequency of
the carrier wave.
-
Amplifier: Amplifies the
modulated carrier wave to increase its power. The
more powerful the amplifier, the more powerful the
broadcast.
-
Antenna: Converts the amplified
signal to radio waves.
Radio receivers
Radio receiver is the opposite of a radio
transmitter. It uses an antenna to capture radio waves,
processes those waves to extract only those waves that are
vibrating at the desired frequency, extracts the audio signals
that were added to those waves, amplifies the audio signals,
and finally plays them on a speaker.
-
Antenna: Captures the radio
waves. Typically, the antenna is simply a length of wire.
When this wire is exposed to radio waves, the waves induce a
very small alternating current in the antenna.
-
RF amplifier: A sensitive
amplifier that amplifies the very weak radio frequency (RF)
signal from the antenna so that the signal can be processed
by the tuner.
-
Tuner: A circuit that can
extract signals of a particular frequency from a mix of
signals of different frequencies. On its own, the antenna
captures radio waves of all frequencies and sends them to
the RF amplifier, which dutifully amplifies them all.
Unless you want to listen to every
radio channel at the same time, you need a circuit that can
pick out just the signals for the channel you want to hear.
That’s the role of the tuner.
The tuner usually employs the
combination of an inductor (for example, a coil) and a
capacitor to form a circuit that resonates at a particular
frequency. This frequency, called the resonant frequency,
is determined by the values chosen for the coil and the
capacitor. This type of circuit tends to block any AC
signals at a frequency above or below the resonant
frequency.
You can adjust the resonant frequency
by varying the amount of inductance in the coil or the
capacitance of the capacitor. In simple radio receiver
circuits, the tuning is adjusted by varying the number of
turns of wire in the coil.
More sophisticated tuners use a variable capacitor
(also called a tuning capacitor) to vary the
frequency.
-
Detector: Responsible for
separating the audio information from the carrier wave. For
AM signals, this can be done with a diode that just
rectifies the alternating current signal. What’s left after
the diode has its way with the alternating current signal is
a direct current signal that can be fed to an audio
amplifier circuit. For FM signals, the detector circuit is a
little more complicated.
-
Audio amplifier: This
component's job is to amplify the weak signal that comes
from the detector so that it can be heard. This can be done
using a simple transistor amplifier circuit.
Of course, there are many variations on this basic radio
receiver design. Many receivers include additional filtering
and tuning circuits to better lock on to the intended
frequency — or to produce better-quality audio output — and
exclude other signals. Still, these basic elements are found
in most receiver circuits.

Transmitting Information
If you have a sine wave and a transmitter that is transmitting
the sine wave into space with an antenna, you have a radio
station. The only problem is that the sine wave doesn't contain
any information. You need to modulate the wave in some way to
encode information on it. There are three common ways to
modulate a sine wave:
Pulse Modulation - In PM, you
simply turn the sine wave on and off. This is an easy way to
send Morse code. PM is not that common, but one good example of
it is the radio system that sends signals to radio-controlled
clocks in the United States. One PM transmitter is able to cover
the entire United States!
Amplitude Modulation - Both AM
radio stations and the picture part of a TV signal use amplitude
modulation to encode information. In amplitude modulation, the
amplitude of the sine wave (its peak-to-peak voltage) changes.
So, for example, the sine wave produced by a person's voice is
overlaid onto the transmitter's sine wave to vary its amplitude.
Frequency Modulation - FM radio
stations and hundreds of other wireless technologies (including
the sound portion of a TV signal, cordless phones, cell phones,
etc.) use frequency modulation. The advantage to FM is that it
is largely immune to static. In FM, the transmitter's sine wave
frequency changes very slightly based on the information signal.
Once you modulate a sine wave with information, you can transmit
the information!

transmitter which use FM signal carrier to transmit the vioce
signal to the FM receiver device.

C2 = 10-40pF
C3 = 4.7pF
Q1 = 2N3904
L1 = see text
Misc = Electret mike, antenna, 3V battery (button cell)
Circuit Construction:
This is one more easy-to-build miniature transmitter that uses
a minimum of parts. Construction is straight forward and
non-critical. Although this design uses a 3-volt power source
(such as a lithium coin or button cell), a 9-volt battery can
be utilized, instead, by growing the value of R1 to 15K and R2
to 1K. C4 is an optional RF bypass capacitor that might assist
enhance performance and improve the range a bit. Experiment to
find greatest results.
L1 was produced by stripping 22 gauge hookup wire of it’s
insulation, then wrapping it in the grooves of the screw
threads of a 1/4 diameter bolt, and then back-screwing the
bolt out of the resulting coil. 8 turns were produced around
the bolt. By wrapping the turns within the threads, a uniform
seperation was created between the coil windings.
If you decide to substitute transistors with some thing
similar you already have, it perhaps necessary adjust the
collector voltage of Q1 by changing the value of R2 or R3
(because you change transistors, it adjustments this bias on
the base of Q1). It should be about 1/2 the supply voltage
(about 4 or 5v).
Circuit Notes:
The default for the capacitors sort is ceramic, preferably the
npo 1% sort or equivalent. But essentially nothing crucial
here. Use any capacitor you’ve got laying arround, but no
electrolytic or tantalum capacitors. Do not go out and rush to
the store. Most parts may be salvaged from somewhere. Only in
the event you intend to make use of this circuit outside the
home you may need to choose much more temperature stable
capacitors.
I’m not positive about the range. With the 3V supply it’s most
likely around 100 feet or so. The 9V supply will beef up the
range considerably, again not tested, but probably within the
300 feet range or so.
To find out the signal on your receiver, ensure there is a
signal coming into the microphone, otherwise the circuit will
not function. I use an old mechanical alarm clock (you know,
with those two significant bells on it). I put this clock by
the microphone which picks up the loud tick-tock. I’m positive
you get the notion… Or it is possible to just lightly tap the
microphone whilst searching for the location of the signal on
your receiver.

istiyorum.
Gemini FM verici devresini herkes bilir, bu devrenin çıkış
transistörleri 2 adettir. Bu transistörlerin sayısını paralel
bağlantı ile 3e yanı toplamda 6 ya çıkardığınızda ve
transistörlerin hemen arkasında bulunan 47 ohm luk 2 adet
direnci de 39 ohm ile değiştirdiğinizde yayın mesafesini
artırabiliyorsunuz. Ancak besleme kısmını temiz bir elektrik
ile çözmeniz gerekiyor.
Gelelim devremize;
menzile sahiptir.
Devre oldukca basit anten
bobini pcb cizimi ile yapılmış ek bobin
kullanmaya gerek yok devrede bir adet transistör
bulunuyor bc547 yerine muadili olacak bf serisi transistör
kullanabilirsiniz. Ayar için, için, Şekil 2'deki, alıcı için
basit yapılmış multimetre devresi ile 200mV geçtiğinde, anten
tahmini yönü ayarlanmış olur. Bu ayar, alıcının maksimum
gerilimi için verici anten ayarıdır.
Mikrofon çok hassastır, bu yüzden mikrofon (4K7) girdi
sağlayan direnç bağlantısı ile bağlanır.
-------------------------------- FM VERİCİLER
-------------------------------
A- Doğrudan FM üretimi
1- Kapasitif mikrofon yöntemi
Yukarıdaki devre basit bir FM vericinin çalışma prensibini
göstermektedir. Kapasitif mikrofona gelen ses dalgaları
mikrofon kapasitesini değiştirir. Bu değişim LC tank
devresinin rezonans frekansının değişmesine dolayısıyla
osilatörün ürettiği frekansın kaymasına neden olur. Bu sayede
FM sinyali elde edilir. Frekanstaki kayma sesin şiddeti ile
orantılı olacaktır. Bu devre FM işaretinin özelliğini anlamak
açısından faydalı olsa da pratikte kapasitif mikrofonun
yeterli frekans kayması oluşturmamasından dolayı kullanılmaz.

RADYO, radyoelektrik dalgaların özelliklerinden yararlanarak
seslerin iletilmesi sistemi. Radyoelektrik dalgaların
alınmasını sağlayan araç da radyo olarak adlandırılır. Radyo
Radyoelektrik
istasyonlarda, denizcilikte hareketli istasyonlarda, radyo
sistemleri hizmetlerinde, uzun bir yere paralel dalga
yayınlarında geniş anten sistemleriyle birlikte kullanılır. MF
ve FM bandı, yerel hizmetlerde, yere koşut yayınlarda ve
bunların alınmasında, iyonosferden yansıtmalı olarak kıtalar
arası görevlerde kullanılır. VHF bandı, yere koşut yayınla
iletişimde yaygın olarak kullanılır. Kullanılan antenler küçük
ve oldukça basit olduğunda VHF bandı içindeki frekanslar
hareketli hizmetler, yerden havaya, havadan havaya
hemen herkesin ilk denemede bunu yapabilmesini sağlayabilir.
radyo vericisidir. Kullanışlı bir şey iletmez (sadece
statik), uzak mesafelere iletmez sadece birkaç santim mesafede
cihazla Mors alfabesi kullanarak birkaç santim mesafeden
istemesidir. Eğer radyo dalgalarını görmenin bir yolu olsaydı,
onları binlerce farklı sinüs dalgası biçiminde olduğunu
görürdünüz. Şuanda etrafınızda tv, radyo, polis-itfaiye, uydu,
cep telefonu, gps gibi cihazların radyo dalgaları
bulunmaktadır. Her radyo dalgasının farklı sinüs dalga
frekansı bulunur, bu dalgaların nasıl yayıldığını belirler.
Herhangi bir radyo iki temel parçadan oluşur:
1.) Verici
elektrik akımları kullanılarak daha çok yoğunlaştırılabilir;
bundan başka, akımı keserek veya akım
şiddetini değiştirerek alanı modüle etmek her zaman mümkündür,
Radyo anteni
Dünya yüzündeki binlerce vericiden gelen her türlü yayını aynı
zamanda alır. Birbirine karışmış bütün bu seslerin ve
müziklerin arasından dinlemek istenileni seçmek için bir
değişken kondansatör kullanılır. Bu kondansatör, bir istasyon
bulmak için düğmeyi çevirdiğimiz zaman başka bütün yayınların
önünü keser.
Akımı yükseltmek
Bir radyo yayınını bulma işlemi, artık yararsız hale gelmiş
taşıyıcı dalgayı yok ederek sadece mikrofondan gelen akımı
alıkoymak demektir. Eskiden radyo lambalarının gördüğü bu işi
şimdi transistorlar görmektedir. Transistorlar mikrofondan
dünyada, haberlere (her saat başı kısa haberler, hattâ önemli
tabii renklenmeler yeniden elde edilir.
Televizyon yayınlarında ses ve görüntülerin nakli için,
frekansı 5x10 : 9x10 Hertz (50 –900 mega say kıl) aralığına
düşen elektromanyetik dalgalar kullanılır. Her televizyon
1. Yayınlayacak sahneyi görüntüleyen kamera.
2. Görüntüdeki ışık sinyalleri dönüştüren bir transduser.
3. Bu elektrik sinyallerinden radyo dalgaları üreterek anten
atmosfere yayınlayan verici (transmitter)
4. Atmosfer
yayınlanan görüntüyü taşıyan elektromanyetik
dalgaları alıp yükselttikten sonra elektik sinyallerine
dönüştürerek (alıcı anten, amlifikatör ve birinci dedektif)
5. Elektrik sinyalleri ışığa dönüştürerek, ekran üzerinde
görünür resim veren transduser .
ELEKTROMAGNETİK DALGALAR TARİHİ
Lord Kelvin, XIX. yy. 'in sonuna doğru fiziğin hemen hemen
tamamlandığı görüşündedir. O'na göre yalnızca ısı ve ışık
kuramı üzerine bazı bilinmeyenler vardı. Fakat H. Hertz'in
belirlemesini istedi. Bilindiği üzere ısıtılan cisimler ışırdı.
Sözgelimi bir bakır parçası morötesi ışınları yaymadan önce
İlkin kızaracak, sonra akkor hale gelecektir. Bu aşamada
cismin yaydığı maksimum ışınlar mora kayacaktır.
1900'da Berlin Üniversitesi profesörlerinden M. Planck bu
problemi kuram yoluyla çözmeye çalışırken olanlar oldu.
Planck'a göre kara cisim (üzerine gelen bütün ışık,
Planck'ın bulgusundan 5 yıl sonra A. Einstein fotoelektrik
Verici Devreleri:
Guglielmo Marconi
1895: 21 year old Guglielmo Marconi demonstrated that
electromagnetic radiation, created by spark gap, could be
detected at a much greater distance than that considered by
Hertz. While these effects were known to experimentalists,
Marconi had made many improvements to the basic antenna,
coherer, and tuning components, and rapidly developed a
capability to wirelessly transmit signals over several miles.
Coherer: vacuum tube with connections on the ends, filled with
iron filings. Electromagnetic waves force the filings to
"cohere", or align themselves between the connections.
Invented by Branly. Tapping with a relay-controlled hammer
causes the coherer to reset itself in preparation for
detecting the next wave train.
Marconi's insight: elevated antennas with kites, one metal
plate on the ground. Yielded a much improved distance in
transmission and detection.
He first offered his invention to the Italian government, but
they rebuffed him. The son of an Anglo-Irish daughter of the
Jameson Whiskey family, Marconi traveled to England, where he
received a warmer reception for his invention.
1897: Demonstrated his wireless telegraphy system on Salisbury
Plain, winning interest of the Royal Navy in communicating
with ships at sea.
1898: Installed radio sets on the Royal yacht, and was able to
report the results of ship regattas to shore.
1899: Marconi demonstrates wireless telegraphy in US. Reported
the international yacht races off Sandy Hook , Long Island.
"The possibilities of wireless radiations are enormous."
Marconi, 1899.
Basic LC Oscillator Tank Circuit
|
The circuit consists of an inductive coil, L and
a capacitor, C.
The capacitor stores energy in the form of an electrostatic
field and which produces a potential (static voltage)
across its plates, while the inductive coil stores its
energy in the form of an electromagnetic field. The
capacitor is charged up to the DC supply voltage, V by
putting the switch in position A.
When the capacitor is fully charged the switch changes to
position B.
The charged capacitor is now connected in parallel across
the inductive coil so the capacitor begins to discharge
itself through the coil. The voltage across C starts
falling as the current through the coil begins to rise. This
rising current sets up an electromagnetic field around the
coil which resists this flow of current. When the
capacitor, C is
completely discharged the energy that was originally stored
in the capacitor, C as
an electrostatic field is now stored in the inductive coil, L as
an electromagnetic field around the coils windings.
As there is now no external voltage in the circuit to
maintain the current within the coil, it starts to fall as
the electromagnetic field begins to collapse. A back emf is
induced in the coil (e
= -Ldi/dt) keeping the current flowing in the
original direction. This current now charges up the
capacitor, C with
the opposite polarity to its original charge. C continues
to charge up until the current reduces to zero and the
electromagnetic field of the coil has collapsed completely.
The energy originally introduced into the circuit through
the switch, has been returned to the capacitor which again
has an electrostatic voltage potential across it, although
it is now of the opposite polarity. The capacitor now starts
to discharge again back through the coil and the whole
process is repeated. The polarity of the voltage changes as
the energy is passed back and forth between the capacitor
and inductor producing an AC type sinusoidal voltage and
current waveform. This then forms the basis of an LC
oscillators tank circuit and theoretically this cycling back
and forth will continue indefinitely. However, every time
energy is transferred from C to L or
from L to C losses
occur which decay the oscillations.
This oscillatory action of passing energy back and forth
between the capacitor, C to
the inductor, L would
continue indefinitely if it was not for energy losses within
the circuit. Electrical energy is lost in the DC or real
resistance of the inductors coil, in the dielectric of the
capacitor, and in radiation from the circuit so the
oscillation steadily decreases until they die away
completely and the process stops. Then in a practical LC circuit
the amplitude of the oscillatory voltage decreases at each
half cycle of oscillation and will eventually die away to
zero. The oscillations are then said to be "damped" with the
amount of damping being determined by the quality or
Q-factor of the circuit.
Damped Oscillations
The frequency of the oscillatory voltage depends upon the
value of the inductance and capacitance in the LC tank
circuit. We now know that for resonance to occur in
the tank circuit, there must be a frequency point were the
value of XC,
the capacitive reactance is the same as the value of XL,
the inductive reactance (XL = XC)
and which will therefore cancel out each other out leaving
only the DC resistance in the circuit to oppose the flow of
current. If we now place the curve for inductive reactance
on top of the curve for capacitive reactance so that both
curves are on the same axes, the point of intersection will
give us the resonance frequency point, ( ƒr or ωr )
as shown below.
Resonance Frequency
where: ƒr is
in Hertz, L is
in Henries and C is
in Farads.
Then the frequency at which this will happen is given as:
Then by simplifying the above equation we get the final
equation for Resonant Frequency, ƒr in
a tunedLC circuit
as:
Resonant Frequency of a LC Oscillator
- Where:
-
L is the Inductance in Henries
-
C is the Capacitance in Farads
-
ƒr is the Output Frequency in Hertz
This equation shows that if either L or C are
decreased, the frequency increases. This output frequency is
commonly given the abbreviation of ( ƒr )
to identify it as the "resonant frequency".
To keep the oscillations going in an LC tank
circuit, we have to replace all the energy lost in each
oscillation and also maintain the amplitude of these
oscillations at a constant level. The amount of energy
replaced must therefore be equal to the energy lost during
each cycle. If the energy replaced is too large the
amplitude would increase until clipping of the supply rails
occurs. Alternatively, if the amount of energy replaced is
too small the amplitude would eventually decrease to zero
over time and the oscillations would stop.
The simplest way of replacing this lost energy is to take
part of the output from the LC tank
circuit, amplify it and then feed it back into the LC circuit
again. This process can be achieved using a voltage
amplifier using an op-amp, FET or bipolar transistor as its
active device. However, if the loop gain of the feedback
amplifier is too small, the desired oscillation decays to
zero and if it is too large, the waveform becomes distorted.
To produce a constant oscillation, the level of the energy
fed back to the LC network
must be accurately controlled. Then there must be some form
of automatic amplitude or gain
control when the amplitude tries to vary from a
reference voltage either up or down. To maintain a stable
oscillation the overall gain of the circuit must be equal to
one or unity. Any less and the oscillations will not start
or die away to zero, any
more the oscillations will occur but the amplitude
will become clipped by the supply rails causing distortion.
Consider the circuit below.
Basic Transistor LC Oscillator Circuit
A
Bipolar
Transistor is used as the LC oscillators amplifier
with the tuned
LC tank
circuit acts as the collector load. Another coil
L2 is
connected between the base and the emitter of the transistor
whose electromagnetic field is "mutually" coupled with that
of coil
L.
Mutual inductance exists between the two circuits. The
changing current flowing in one coil circuit induces, by
electromagnetic induction, a potential voltage in the other
(transformer effect) so as the oscillations occur in the
tuned circuit, electromagnetic energy is transferred from
coil
L to
coil
L2 and
a voltage of the same frequency as that in the tuned circuit
is applied between the base and emitter of the transistor.
In this way the necessary automatic feedback voltage is
applied to the amplifying transistor.
The amount of feedback can be increased or decreased by
altering the coupling between the two coils Land L2.
When the circuit is oscillating its impedance is resistive
and the collector and base voltages are 180o out
of phase. In order to maintain oscillations (called
frequency stability) the voltage applied to the tuned
circuit must be "in-phase" with the oscillations occurring
in the tuned circuit. Therefore, we must introduce an
additional 180o phase
shift into the feedback path between the collector and the
base. This is achieved by winding the coil of L2 in
the correct direction relative to coil L giving
us the correct amplitude and phase relationships for the Oscillators circuit
or by connecting a phase shift network between the output
and input of the amplifier.
The LC Oscillator is therefore a
"Sinusoidal Oscillator" or a "Harmonic Oscillator" as it is
more commonly called. LC oscillators can generate
high frequency sine waves for use in radio frequency (RF)
type applications with the transistor amplifier being of a
Bipolar Transistor or FET. Harmonic Oscillators come in many
different forms because there are many different ways to
construct an LC filter network and amplifier with the most
common being the Hartley LC Oscillator, Colpitts
LC Oscillator, Armstrong Oscillator and Clapp
Oscillator to name a few.
Example No1
An inductance of 200mH and a capacitor of 10pF are connected
together in parallel to create an LC oscillator tank
circuit. Calculate the frequency of oscillation.
We can see that by decreasing the value of either the
capacitance or the inductance increases the frequency of
oscillation of the LC tank circuit.
Oscillators Summary
The basic conditions required for an LC oscillator resonant
tank circuit are given as follows.
- 1. The circuit MUST contain a reactive
(frequency-dependant) component either an Inductor, (L)
or a Capacitor, (C)
and a DC power source.
-
- 2. In a simple circuit oscillations become damped
due to component and circuit losses.
-
- 3. Voltage amplification is required to overcome
these circuit losses and provide gain.
-
- 4. The overall gain of the amplifier must be
greater than one, unity.
-
- 5. Oscillations can be maintained by feeding back
some of the output voltage to the tuned circuit that is of
the correct amplitude and in-phase, (0o).
-
- 6. Oscillations can only occur when the feedback
is "Positive" (self-regeneration).
-
- 7. The overall phase shift of the circuit must be
zero or 360o so
that the output signal from the feedback network will be
"in-phase" with the input signal.
In the next tutorial about
Oscillators,
we will examine the operation of one of the most common LC
oscillator circuits that uses two inductance coils to form a
centre tapped inductance within its resonant tank circuit.
This type of LC oscillator circuit is known commonly as a
Hartley
Oscillator.
Verici
yolla meydana getirilen elektromanyetik dalgalar yardımıyla bilgi
iletmektir. İlk zamanlar vericiler sadece, sabit bir frekansta yüksek
frekanslı enerjiyi gönderebiliyordu. Bu tip vericilere sürekli dalga
(CW-Continuous wave) vericileri denir.
RF güç katı: Bu kat, antene istenen güçte sinyali besler;
modülatörden gelen bilgi, osilatörden gelen taşıyıcıya burada
bindirilir.
Modülatör ve ses frekans katı: Mikrofondan elde edilen elektrik
işareti çok küçüktür. Ses frekans yükselteci (katı) bunu istenen
seviyeye yükseltir. Modülatör katı da ses sinyalini güç katına aktaran
bir uygunlaştırıcıdır. Ses frekansının şiddetine göre güç katının
kazancına tesir ederek amplitüd (genlik) modülasyonu gerçekleştirir.
Basit bir FM verici şu katlardan meydana gelir:
- Ses frekans yükseltici ve reaktans modülatör katı. (Reaktans: Bobin
Anten: Elektromanyetik enerjiyi uzaya yayar.
